August Outfits and Recap

August Outfits
Fashion Happy Hour | Simple Sunday | Ikat Shorts | Late Summer Floral
August has felt like the longest month ever! That's because I officially finished my master's program on August 1st and I've been on vacation ever since. I even went on a week-long road trip from Miami to Savannah, Charleston, Savannah again, St. Augustine, and back. And you guys, I took 1,363 pictures on that trip. I know I can't be the only one that does that! A very small percentage of those are outfit photos; most capture the essence of the places I visited. Or at least that's what I like to think. But even though I deleted close to 200 (I take several shots sometimes to pick out the best image), I can't bring myself to go through them again and make outfit/travel posts. It's just too much work and I'm on vacation mode! Haha, I'll quit my whining now and get to work on those posts this week.

But first, here are (some!) of my favorite Instagram shares this month:

So I'm back from my road trip and now I have TONS of pictures to go through and edit. That's the not so fun part. I'll be sharing some outfit pictures from the trip later during the week.

Here's an outfit I wore to celebrate my cousin and Earnestyle photographer Allie's birthday. Thank you, Allie, for taking great photos even on your birthday! <3

Road Trippin' Series: Part 3

Road Trip Outfit_3
Bracelets | Maxi Dress | Earrings
Wedges | Ring
You guys, look at this maxi dress. Isn't it a work of art? It's made by MJVO Couture on Etsy. I think maxi dresses are wonderful for traveling because they minimum effort. Just throw on some cute jewelry and comfortable shoes and you're done. Ok, so I featured these fabulous metallic wedges instead... Maybe you could get away with wedges depending on where you're going. Like maybe you're on a cruise and you're just going to dinner, then back to your room so you could change into comfy sandals. Me, I'm on a road trip, so I will be my short self all trip long. Lol.

P.S. This was a scheduled post. I apologize if any links are broken or items are sold out by the time you're reading this.

Road Trippin' Series: Part 2

Road Trip Outfit_2
Tank | Skirt | Necklace
Sandals | Bag

Hi there!
Today I am in Savannah, Georgia.
Not that I'm writing this from there. This was a scheduled post.

This set was inspired by Katie's Bliss post on her visit to Historic Charleston. This skirt is so darn beautiful. I've seen it on several different bloggers (e.g., Kendi, Atlantic Pacific here and here, Chic Flavors) and have contemplated buying it myself but I can't quite justify it since I already own a similar one. I'm also kind of obsessed with this ModCloth necklace. I really wish I could just have this outfit in my closet right now. Or, better yet, on this trip with me. Just like *poof*! And then it's there. But that's not the way it works is it.

Hope you enjoyed this outfit as much as I (vicariously) have!

Road Trippin' Series: Part 1

I'm goin' on a road trip tomorrow!

Backpack | Sunnies | Tee
Necklace| Shorts
iPhone Case | Watch | Sandals

My parents and I will be driving up to Savannah, Charleston, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Sadly my other half cannot come with us. I am most excited to visit Charleston and Boone Hall Plantation, probably known to most people as Allie's summer home in The Notebook (which I watched in preparation for this trip... Not that I need an excuse to watch The Notebook. Lol).

So because I will be away, I've scheduled a few road/day/weekend trip outfits to go up throughout the week. I apologize in advance if something is sold out by the time the set goes live. Today's set was inspired by what I'll be wearing tomorrow to drive, except that I'll be wearing more comfortable shorts or jeans and Toms or comfortable boat shoes (my feet get cold easily, esp. in long car trips). I particularly love this Urban Outfitters watch and the sunny yellow Birkenstocks. Who knew this chunky, comfy shoe could be so popular?

So have any of you ever visited these locations? Taken a road trip out of Florida into the south? Because, you know, Miami doesn't really count as the south...What do you recommend I see? What and where should I eat? Please comment with your tips below.

Thanks in advance, folks! I'll be reading your comments throughout the trip. :)

Simple Sunday

Sunday Simple

My love affair with these pants continues on the blog today. I had a similar moment in 2012 where I posted like 4 outfits in a row with mustard pants. It's happening again with these pants (see here and here). But can you blame me? They look and feel like pajamas, and I get tons of compliments from random people every time I wear them. I call that a win. They're no longer available in this print but there's still some in this one (here).

Fun Stuff Friday

I was cleaning out my closet earlier this week and realized that I have few staple denim pieces. Next on my list is a good pair of jeans and some overalls. Yes, overalls! A wave of 90's nostalgia has brought them back. I would also like some cutoff shorts-- love these from Etsy. I've always wanted to make them myself from some old mom jeans but these are already made for you at only $25.
Disclaimer: I consider the vest and Anthro overall to be overpriced. I included them on here because their unique designs won me over.

Shoesday Tuesday

Loafers and Oxfords..
So I went shopping with my mom this weekend and caught myself totally obsessing over these adorably preppy and incredibly comfortable Sperry loafers (the navy and brown ones). But alas, I am on a shoe shopping ban until further notice. So I thought I'd get it out of my system via a loafers and oxfords Shoesday Tuesday post.

These picks remind me of the prefall, back-to-school excitement of my childhood. I went to a Catholic school that made us wear black and white 50's style Oxfords (like these). Although I always associated with them with the stern, rigid restrictions on our individuality and freedom, I sorta secretly liked them, because c'mon... They're so cute! Haha.

Note: The "Hello Sunshine" flats are currently sold out, but they seem to have been very popular and ModCloth is really good about bringing loved items back. Just be sure to request them if you'd like to see that happen.

July Outfits + Recap

July Outfits
1 | 2 | 3
July was a very mixed month for me.

My boyfriend's family suffered a tragic loss on July 6th. Things will never quite be the same. Then I had all this Swim Week excitement, which felt strange and out of place given what happened. Finally, as of this past week, I finished my practicum year and found a (dream) job before even officially graduating.

So it was a mixed month, you see. A very mixed month.

And there's no way to neatly come back from that somber self-disclosure, so let's take a look at some pretty photographs, shall we? Here are my favorite Instagram shots of the month:
