Last Sunday Nestor and I went to Janisel Rosenthal's first Customer Appreciation Day Party. Janisel is a very sweet and talented photographer. I first met her in high school (she was in middle school) and we've kept in touch ever since. She took the photos for two of my all-time favorite blog posts (here and here). And on Sunday she gave me awards for "Most Creative" and "Best Smile!" Haha, I love it. We had a nice time with Janisel and some of her favorite customers, but sadly, it started pouring right around photo time! But, of course, she still managed to get this incredible shot of us and you can barely seen the rain in the background.

So I decided that I really liked my outfit that day and wore it again the next day for some outfit pictures (my fellow bloggers, I know you can relate!). My friend Gretchen (who just had an adorable baby boy) took the pictures below, and she did such a great job! Thanks, Gretchen!

Fun Stuff Friday: Pop Culture Gifts Under $50

POP culture gift guide 2014
1 - Taylor Swift 1989 (Deluxe Edition), Target Exclusive
2 - Taylor Swift 1989 Tee
3 - Geo Hashtag Midi Ring Set
4 - Hipster Ariel™ Sweater
5 - Novel Tee Sweatshirt in Jay
6 - Starbucks Iced Coffee iPhone Cover
7 - ASOS T-Shirt with Breaking Bad Heisenberg Print
8 - Khaleesi Bracelet
9 - Galaxy Good Vibes Stud Earrings

Honestly, this whole post was inspired by Heisenberg. I needed an excuse to talk about this Heisenberg tee. You see, I just finished watching Breaking Bad (I know, late to the party) so I'm going through binge watch withdrawal. Thankfully I've got lots of fall tv to keep up with.

And hey, my favorite Disney princess turned 25 this week! The Little Mermaid is one of the most beloved Disney characters of all time, and Hipster Ariel in particular is huge on the internet. I thought this Hipster Ariel sweater was so cute and so now.

And Taylor Swift's 1989 is per-fec-tion. Get the Target deluxe edition, which includes an extra song and three tracks that go into her songwriting process. I've been a Swift fan since Teardrops on my Guitar and I'm kinda heartbroken that she left country, but seriously the girl can do no wrong in my eyes. Love her, forever and always. Plus, I know she'll go back to country one day. Country will take her back.

Hope you enjoyed these pop culture gift suggestions!

Fashion Happy Hour: Halloween Edition

The day before Halloween there was a special, Halloween edition of Fashion Happy Hour at the LMNT in Wynwood. Valentina, who puts together every one of them, asked me and a few other bloggers to style some models for the fashion show at the end. This was my first time styling anyone besides my close friends and family, so I was kinda nervous! But I had so much fun hanging out with my fellow Miami blogger ladies and with my good friend Mariana (one of my therapist friends). Here are some of the pictures from that night. The grainy ones were taken with my Nikon or phone, and the really high-quality ones were taken by Paul (PH Balance Photography) or Louis (The Louis Collection).

Here are some more of my gift picks for you today!
If you're a regular around here you know that ModCloth is one of my favorite sites because they offer such a wide range of classic, quirky, and vintage items. Every holiday season they put together this neat gift guide with lots and lots of categories like $20 and under gifts, $50 and under gifts, gifts for guys, gifts for "geeks," and so on.

I chose some items from this year's gift guide (here) to highlight some of my favorite things about ModCloth--like the Charter School Cardigan, seen here in "Dots," which is the perfect little cardigan for work or play. I know because I have it in mustard and wear it all the time. I also love their classic, vintage-inspired sunglasses and accessories. But my absolute favorite things from ModCloth are the quirky pieces that help us express who we are and what we love, like their travel and animal-themed goodies and retro decor. I gifted the map necklace to my cousin Allie last year and she loved it. And the travel wallet pictured here is on my personal holiday wishlist this year (take note, friends! :D).

So in sum, their vast collection of unique gifts is the perfect place to find something to wow your favorite people. Plus, there's always tons of fun things on sale, too.

Fun Stuff Friday: Gifts for the Animal Lover

I always like to gift with a purpose. To do that, I think of what my friends and family like, what our relationship is like, and how I can represent that in a gift. I had a couple of people in mind (and myself.. hehe) when I put together this quirky and fashionable set of gift ideas for animal lovers. I've always liked animals so it's no surprise I like them on my stuff too.

So are you a dog person or a cat person?

On our first trip to Savannah this summer, I fell in love with this ivy-covered house which I recognized from this Flickr photo that I had found while researching the city. I noticed that the house was for sale, so naturally I later found its listing online (spoiler alert: it's still on the market going for $1,975,000).

So for our October road trip we stopped by Savannah again on the way back home, specifically for some Byrd's chocolate chip cookies (so damn good!). I didn't feel like taking blog photos that day because I felt very tired and hadn't put any makeup on-- you know, since we had like a 9 hour drive ahead of us and I wanted to dress for comfort. But then I remembered that I couldn't get any good pictures of this house last time, so we stopped by like totally creepy tourists to take photos of this beauty. Lol. My mom then insisted that I might as well take outfit photos.

I think it's stunning, overgrown ivy and all.

I wonder if it's currently occupied... And if so, if the owners saw that I was right at their front door. I promise owners, this isn't as creepy as it looks! Just a girl and her style blog, using your wonderful home as a background.

It was in the 80's by the time we hit Florida so I shed my scarf, the shirt seen here (I had a tee underneath), and changed into some comfortable moccasins.

Simple Fall Outfit for One Savannah Night

double breasted belted olive green trench coat

On our way back to Miami from Asheville, we stopped at a halfway point that we've come to love: Savannah. We were only there for one night for dinner and sleep, since we just visited in August (e.g., see here). This outfit looked very fall compared to what everyone else was wearing at the time, since it was "only" in the 60's and that's not fall weather to people who aren't from SoFla. I didn't mind standing out in my bright mustard pants and belted olive trench coat that looks a lot fancier than it really is (it's from Forever 21, 2009).

Touring the Biltmore Estate

Here I am at the beautiful Biltmore Estate last month, feelin' all Sarah KJP in this cozy, preppy fall attire that I would wear all. the. time. if we had fall in Miami.

These pictures were taken on our way out of Gatlinburg. We woke early in the morning, had another yummy pankcake breakfast, and stopped by this creek we had found the day before. This time there was a couple fishing here, in fishing-appropriate clothing. They must have thought I was nuts for a) looking all over-dressed at 10 in the morning and b) having my mom and dad take a bunch of pictures from various spots and angles. They had a little competition going on to see who could take better shots.

Fall (in Love with Fall) in Gatlinburg

So I went on another road trip to the south with my parents! This time, we were looking for fall foliage. And fall foliage we found!

October Recap

October was a great month!

I only posted 4 outfits, but that was because I went on another road trip through the south, this time for fall foliage in Tennessee and North Carolina. Those posts will be up next week (in fact, the first post accidentally went up this morning. I reverted it to a draft and it will be up again tomorrow!).

And these were my favorite Instagrams of the month. Most are from said road trip, and the one with me and Nestor was taken on our 7th year anniversary last week! :)

I hope your October was as lovely as mine, and I wish you all a happy November!
